Q-Tip Launches Twitter Attack On New York Mayor, Michael Bloomberg

via ballerstatus:
If you follow rapper Q-Tip on Twitter (@QtipTheAbstract), you may have noticed that over the past few days, he's had some not-so-nice things to say about New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg.
In a series of tweets he dubbed the "Anti-Bloomberg Operation", the former A Tribe Called Quest frontman called out Bloomberg for his "manipulation of the law", and his lack of support for the poor and middle class.
"NYC Don't let BLoomberg turn the city into the office for rich folk and kick out the middle class/poor folks," Tip said in one update.
"Bloombergs manipulation of the law to enable him to run for a 3rd term is an act of Tyranny," he wrote in another.
Q-Tip explained his attacks on the mayor to NewsDay, saying he is "way out of touch" with the average New Yorker.
"His viewpoint of New York City is from his East Side town house ... his occasional jaunt to a neighborhood is when he has to go for political substance or [to] quell anger in a neighborhood," Q-tip said.
Although Q-Tip is not a registered voter in New York, he explained that his Twitter bashing began after he began noticing Bloomberg's poor handling of the city's homeless and his decision to change the term-limits law to seek a third term.
According to NewsDay.com, Bloomberg signed a bill in November 2008 changing term limits, citing his fiscal experience was needed to guide the city through troubling economic times.
"That's pretty egotistic in a way," said Q-tip of the move.
Despite the Bloomberg bashing, Tip said he doesn't dislike the mayor. In fact, he's happy with the way he's cleaned up the city's parks and subways.
"It's not like I hate him," he said. "I disagree with the way he is dealing with the city that I love, that millions of people love."

Baby Stewie Outed by Family Guy Creator Seth MacFarlane

He tells the NY Daily News:
"We had an episode that went all the way to the script phase in which Stewie does come out,” MacFarlane, the show’s creator, says in the September issue of Playboy magazine. “It had to do with the harassment he took from other kids at school. He ends up going back in time to prevent a passage in Leviticus from being written: ‘Thou shalt not lie with mankind as with womankind. It is an abomination.’

"But we decided it’s better to keep it vague, which makes more sense because he’s a 1-year-old. Ultimately, Stewie will be gay or a very unhappy repressed heterosexual. It also explains why he’s so hellbent on killing [his mother, Lois] and taking over the world: He has a lot of aggression, which comes from confusion and uncertainty about his orientation."

Young Dreezey AKA Drake Slames Head of Motown Then Apologizes... Sort Of

via thisis50.com
Normally, Drake makes headlines with his music, which has led him to become one of the most buzzed-about MCs in recent years.

But this week the Toronto rapper's unexpectedly candid comments about Universal Motown head Sylvia Rhone have further stirred blog fodder that began with his dismissive line about the executive on a track titled "Say What's Real," from his breakthrough mixtape So Far Gone.

In an interview with MTV News this week, Drake apologized to Rhone, saying his comments — both in the song and in a recent interview — were "emotionally charged" and "very brazen."

"I can definitely say for me, for furthering the negativity, I can definitely say I apologize," Drake told MTV News. "I don't know her personally to discredit her character. It's not the right thing to do."

The tension seemed to reach a high point between the parties this past week.

First, when Drake's comments in the upcoming issue of the Fader magazine got out, he reportedly said, "I don't f--- with Motown at all." Drake has maintained he signed a deal directly to his management company and secured distribution through Universal Republic, rather than signing with the major label directly.

However, on Thursday (August 13), Billboard suggested that Universal Motown execs have put their foot down and demanded that all work from Drake be stamped with the Motown logo.

Harvard Yard Gives Guys College Boy Swag

Photobucket

Via Perez Hilton
Now this is a first. Harvard (yes, that Harvard) is launching a contemporary menswear line called Harvard Yard.

The university just signed a ten-year licensing deal with Wearwolf Group, a major clothing manufacturer.

The clothes won't say "Harvard University" on them or don the schools colors except in the fine details (think crimson buttonholes) as they aren't geared toward their own students, but a larger contemporary male demographic.

The line, which will range in price from $165 for pants to $495 for sport coats, was inspired by photos of students lounging in Harvard Yard in the '60s.

John Fowler, creative director for the line, says "it's a style that has become current again and not just with the American consumer. We think Harvard Yard will have global appeal."

This is all fine and well, but there is one lingering question… why???

<|Supa Tight Hustla|>

We live in turbulent times. Everything seems to be changing rapidly. Family and friends are getting older and industry is crumbling. I guess all we are left with at the end of the day is doing what you love. I love ideas. Everything in the world that we see began in someone's mind. The creative process excites me because it's as if I am opening my mind up to a higher authority. The universe immediately becomes my playground and anything becomes possible. Ok, Ok.....I haven't learned how to move objects with my mind. Hopefully I can move many hearts and minds through my art. I think that would suffice.
